I am thinking of getting a PDA for the first time since my Newton 2100... probably a Palm Tungsten T3, but I am curious about the Sony Clie UX50G (especially the "Wow" design I guess).

Now, is there anyone here has used one already? What is your experience on it? How would you rate compare to a T3??

I would probably use the PDA in the following areas:

1. Hotsync with my office PC (WinNT 4), especially with Outlook
2. View and possibly edit Word, Excel, PDF (You cannot edit PDF, I know) and possibly PowerPoint files.
3. Typing minutes or notes in the office meeting.
4. Keep appointments and sync with Outlook in my office, and possibly with iCal at home?
5. Transfer files between my office PC and my Mac at home (i.e. using my PDS as the medium).
6. Enjoy to a few MP3 or watch movie clips at leisure?

How easy or difficult to get the UX50G connect to a Mac (without using bluetooth or Airport)?

Any valuable comments welcome

I like the Toshiba pocket PCs more then the sony, and I like Windows CE and Palm (6 I think) with both having strength and weakness, I personaly would pick a Windows CE based system because I know for sure you can use pocket Excel, pocekt Outlook, Pocket Word on it with no problems at all, not sure if you can under a Palm OS. Palm OS has lots of software for it and syncs nice with Outlook (PC)

Sony does make solid PDAs

Sorry Athens, but you don't know your stuff.

All Office documents are readable and writable in native formats on the Palm. If you opt for a Tungsten T|3 you get this built in. If you go with the Sony you will have to buy the software ($39). PocketPC (which has stopped being called Win CE years ago... and it is PalmOS 5. 6 is not out yet) is a load of crap... Well, they are not that bad, but I would definatly choose a Palm over PocketPC - especially if you are using a mac.

Personally I would go with the T|3 - as the software is better (support for portrait and landscape modes). The only thing that the Sony offers over the T|3 is the keyboard - would you use this? and the WiFi - would you use this?

If Sony does come out with the rumored UX80 (which has a bigger, better screen) I might choose it over the T|3 - but only if it ships with portrait/landscape mode.

MacBook Air 11" 1.6Ghz 4GB 128GB Backlit Keyboard, 4S, iPad 2
