Hi, I want to use an Airport Extreme Basestation purchased in the USA in Australia (240 volt power) and other countires?
Is Airport designed to be used all over the world like the powerbook with the AC adaptor that uses 130 to 230 volts.
Or is it sold in the USA with an AC adaptor or power input that is specific to the USA and 130 volt countries?
What type of AC adaptor does the airport use?
Can I just get a plug adaptor and plug it into the wall at 240 volts?
Are there any other issues I haven't considered and should consider?
Wil I fry my brains if I use an Airport basestation purchased in the USA in Australia?
Many thanks for your help.
I don't have an Airport extreme basestation, but I had a 1st generation Airport basestation. If the design stays the same, then the actual basestation power input is DC only. All you have to change is the AC adapter (basically it's a AC to DC transformer).
I would say the AC adapter would have have any voltage sensing or switching function, so don't attempt to use the AC adapter you got from US into the Australian wall socket (unless you have a 240V to 120V step down AC transformer).
The other thing you have to watch is whether the US version of Airport basestation has the Australian "C-tick" approval. If not, you could be fined A$12000 for using it (don't ask me how the authorities can ever find this out... I wouldn't have a clue

).
