Here's the specs for my set-up.

Beige G3 266
OS 10.2.8
USB 1.2 (or whatever version before USB 2)
Latest Canon i9100 drivers

The problem isn't with print quality or getting the printer to print. It just prints really slow. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the speed of my mac? But i think it is really odd that the speed is the same for both plain black text and full-res photos. The images are stunning but damn... 1 minute for a 1/2 a page of text?

Anyone got a solution?

Permissions repair?
I don't know if it is a Permissions repair. I will try it but this printer printed the same way when I ran OS 9.1

I will try the permissions repair though.

Yes, it's the speed of your Mac. Sorry.

If that is the case then why with a Epson 1520 in OS 9.1 were able to make prints faster than the Canon i9100, OS9.1 and OS 10.2.8?

I'm still looking around for answers. Is it the drivers? Is it the OS? I will test the computer speed thing with my Dual 867 G4.

It's very possible that the Epson drivers are less resource-intensive (or that Epson has set them to be more aggressive in taking CPU time).

You can't compare OS 9 and OS X print speeds -- especially on a Mac that slow, OS X's system overhead is leaving little CPU time over for the printing.

Printing was definitely faster on the dual 867. I'm able to live with the slow printing till we get a new mac.

thanks for the help
