Griffin Tech iTalk!

the iTalk is a device that works in the same way as the Belkin voice recorder for the ipod, but with the following advantages:

* Better looking and integrated with iPod
* Better quality microphone for recording
* Better quality speaker for playback
* Microphone Passthrough connector to connect a high-quality EXTERNAL mic.
* Headphone Passthrough connector to listen to recordings through headphones.

I KNEW IT!

I hope they announce it soon. Then, we'll have to wait a year before it actually ships.

Lets hope they can ship it faster than the itrip.

All as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as Love.

Okay, only six and a half months. They're doing better. The 3G iPods are starting to look pretty perfect for my purposes, with the iTalk and the new Belkin camera reader announced this week. I may have to buy one--but I'll be waiting until the 28th, of course.

What is the point if it's still recording 8-bit 22kHz mono?

The iPod can't do any higher resolutions just because the external hardware is slightly better than what was available before...!

What bullsh!t.

I'm not looking for high fidelity recording capability to bootleg a concert or make my band's demo. I'd just like to record notes to self, meetings, or maybe my own [average at best] singing.

I think people expect professional quality from a consumer device sometimes. iPod was never marketed as such.

Interesting comment in iPod Lounge's comments on the iTalk:
If only you could record high bitrate MP3's with this thing, think of the bootleg opportunities!
Because of people like this, I find it improbable that any significantly higher quality audio recording will be supported in the future.

spheric..a little off topic maybe......what would be your recommendations for recording live music with a iPod? Is it possible yet?

It's not.

That was my point.

Its usefulness is limited to that of a dictaphone in this regard.

I'm sticking with my 5GB until this changes.

Nobody expects professional audio quality from an mp3 device. The two are mutually exclusive.

But I am waiting for Apple to make it a better MiniDisc replacement, such as is already available from Archos, etc.
