I've had my 3rd gen 20GB iPod for a couple of months now, and I'm generally very happy with it. However, a couple of things have been bugging me.

Ever since I plugged it into my Mac for an extended period of time (to copy some large files across), I've noticed that after long periods of connectivity the iPod gets really hot and the screen also goes darker. I have to turn the contrast right down to get the screen an acceptable shade, but when the iPod cools down again the screen is then not dark enough! I figured it might just be a normal quirk, but thought I'd check here anyway.

The other thing was, that particularly when the screen goes darker, but at most other times as well, the screen flickers ever-so-slightly at the very bottom. I figure it's just the inner workings causing a slight bit of interference. It's something that others may not have yet noticed, so could someone check there's for me? Cheers!

My 15GB 3g ipod has the same getting hot and turning color thing, but I cannot say the same about the flickering at the bottom. I've had mine for almost half a year and ive had that problem (not really problem, nusicanse) since the begining. Im guessing its just the heat cuasing the display to go wierd... There is a hard drive spinning like mad in there!!!

LCD displays in general respond to ambient temperature. just leave a calculator with an LCD display in the sun long enough, and if it's hot enough, the display will turn dark and unreadable. let it cool off, and it goes back to normal.
