Hey all

Have an external 80 gig usb2/firewire hard drive that i use on my Windows desktop for saving all my iPod mp3's and photos.

Just got a 933 G4 iBook and would like to use the hard drive too. When i connect it the iBook see's it, but won't write to it!

How can i get it to write??

I want to keep it workin on my windows machine as well though, as have a lot more stuff on my windows Pc [sorry!!]

I don't think that the mac will write to NTFS, Just FAT32 formats. If you reformat the drive to FAT32, it should work.

Remember to back up first, though! Reformatting a drive erases everything on it.

so i can reformat the drive in XP on my pc in FAT32 and it should then work on both systems.

anyone know how i go about doing this?!!

You can even format it on your Mac using the Harddisk Utility.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Easy:

1) Mount portable drive on your windows machine
2) Copy all the files to your computers hard drive
3) Right click on drive and select 'Format'
4) In the window that appears, choose 'Fat32' from the choices that appear.
5) Copy files back to portable drive
6) Plug into mac and use drive
