I'm wondering because mine is set all the way up. when it's any lower than 7/8 up its realy hard to read it. I'm wondering if my screen is going bad or something because mine just got a whole line of pixels messed up. They are off color but you cant notice them that much. I'm thinking of going to my apple store and asking them about it.

I have a 3G iPod, and the contrast is all the way up as well, anything below 3/4 bar and it's hard to read. This is at room temp also. Once it gets a little cold, game over, unreadable display. So far the screen contrast problem is my only gripe about this iPod....

Ya, I've noticed that when my ipod is pluged in and charging i can set the contrast lower. Also my screen magically fixed itself with the line going across. Probally because I did a restore on it.

The latest software update changed the contrast settings somewhat - maybe for power conservation? Anyway, I had to turn my contrast up after the update. Maybe the new contrast setting was just lower, or maybe it's just cold outside?

That's weird, because I had to set mine almost all the way up before the latest update, and after the update I had to turn it down to half. Much better for me.
