Does there exist a printer that is "airport" ready ? What I mean here is a printer that does not need to be connected to the base station, that would really be all wireless the way. I thought the new all-in-one HP 2510 was like that , but I am not sure. Anybody has any idea ?

thx much,
giovanni

Reading the specs, it sure does look like that HP printer has built-in wireless. That's pretty nifty!

I just don't like HP inkjet printers. You'd have to pry my Canon S9000 from my cold, dead hands.

I've seen wireless print adaptors from some of the networking vendors, but I don't know how they work....

Some Epsons have it but I hear they are nothing but trouble. If anything get an airport base station and share it.

Also most wireless adapters for printer cost more then the printers themselves.

There are network peripheral adapters. The basically receive the wireless connection and turn it into whatever you want including USB and Ethernet. I am not sure of the brand, just saw it on TV the other day. A lot of people use them for xBox I guess.

has anyone set up the HP 2510 with their Macs?

I have an AEBS, but the drivers for my HP 7110 don't work.

I'd like to know if the latest drivers for the 2510 make this thing work all the way with Panther, including, faxing, scanning, and printing?

Also, can you mount memory cards using the reader built into this thing?

If so, I might try to convince HP to exchange these machines.

Thanks,

CC

Hp's have TERRIBLE software in general for Mac so I wouldn't hold your breath for any wifi support.

Better to get a wireless router and a usb/ethernet printer.

HP support claims the 2510 works on a Mac wifi network, including scanning and faxing.

The only caveat is that you have to set it up via wired Ethernet first, then you can unwire it.

Can anyone confirm this for me?

If you can, I am going to buy one and sell my 7110.
