May seem like an odd question, let me explain. I have a 12" PB and I'd like to deal with as few wires as possible, having now been spoiled by airport extreme (my first wireless computer experience). The thing about a bluetooth mouse is a) it's very expensive and b) I certainly do not want a 1-button mouse (I'm aware MS makes one but I'm not interested, largely for reason a). Therefore I was wondering if I could use the Apple bluetooth keyboard only, with a usb mouse plugged into it. Is this possible? Would it drain the keyboard batteries too quickly? Does the Apple BT keyboard even have a USB port like other Apple keyboards? Cheers.

No USB Port on the Apple BT keyboard, and it would drain the batteries too quickly powering an optical mouse anyway. I tried the Microsoft KB/mouse combo, and it's pretty laggy in addition to being expensive.

Well, first you are right, the price of a BT keyboard and Mouse are expensive. I am using Apple's BT keyboard and Belkin's BT Mouse (best price I found for the Belkin was around $77 at www.eCost.com). I have very happy with the combo. I personally perfer Apple's Keyboards and I have programed the mouse to take atvantage of Expose'. The Belkin has the same button layout as the older Logitech MouseMan Optical, R, L, Scroll wheel and thrid button, and a fourth button on the left side where a RH person's thumb would be.

You're seniro is not possible, sorry.

Oh, one draw back on the Belkin BT Mouse is that there is no off switch like on Apple's mouse, something you just have to figure out or replace batteries more often. I use rechargable batteries.

Thanks for the responses folks, looks like an ideal solution doesn't exist right now. Maybe one day Apple will clue in and release a pro line mouse with 2 buttons (at least) + scroll mouse. Cheers.
