I like both PCs and Macs, with this out in the open I now ask my question. I’m interested in getting the top of the line Cinema Display for my new Windows machine I’m building (dirt cheap). It’s going to have a powerful processor and a top of the line video card. So now my question/concerns:

First, from what I’ve heard PC users do not have access to the same features as Mac users have to the Cinema Display. In fact all I think I’ll have access to would be the brightness. Second, I hear that that Windows XP looks terrible in widescreen then I also hear it looks fine? Third, I hear that I can have complete access to the display on the Cinema Display through my video card? Since I don’t know that’s why I’m asking

Windows XP looks fine on the Cinema Displays - I have used my AMD box on my 22" Cinema Display quite often (1600x1200). I've used both ATI Radeon 8500 and 9800 Pro cards.

You'll need Apple's $99 DVI to ADC converter box to run the display on a PC (since no PCs have ADC connectors).

On the PC, you will not have access to adjust the monitor's brightness. The Apple displays are a fixed-contrast display, so even on a Mac, the only adjustable parameter is brightness. On the PC, it'll run full-brightness all the time.

Otherwise, it should run fine.

This has been addressed a number of times in these forums. Search a little and you'll get lots of info. In the meantime look into a little PC program called PowerStrip which will let you adjust the hell out of your Cinema Display. I use it all the time.
