After a search of the forum, I've learned that to record audio on a G4 iBook (I have the 933MHz 14" iBook), it's useful to get the M-Audio Transit (
http://www.m-audio.com/products/m-audio/transit/ )or Griffon iMic (
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/ ).
I've read that the iMic has a problem with latency? Latency is a concern for me as I plan on doing a combo of MIDI sequencing with the occasional audio live play capture from a Roland keyboard. So if a MIDI track is playing and I'd like to superimpose an audio track, latency would be a problem.
Is a Firewire solution better considering the speed of USB 2.0? Do audio capture devices automatically capture more data if they detect a faster version of USB?
So which USB audio capture device would work better? Anybody have some experiences to share with me to help me decide which to purchase?
For software I haven't decided to go with either Metro SE, ProTools, Reason or any others I may not have heard of yet.
