If so, what blackberry do i need?
Thirdparty software?

There is a long discussion on the issue on one of RIM's developer forums. You can find the discussion here:

http://www.blackberry.net/developers...amp;msRange=15

The short answer is that it doesn't look like anyone offers support for syncing the Blackberry with the mac.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting BlackBerry Technical Support. The BlackBerry Desktop Software currently runs on Windows 95/98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and XP. RIM currently does not offer a Mac version of the Desktop Software. To deliver synchronization of calendar, address book, tasks, and memo pad, RIM licenses Intellisync software from Puma Technologies. At this time, Puma does not offer a Mac version of Intellisync. There is currently no timeline set for the introduction of Mac versions of Intellisync or the BlackBerry Desktop Software. If you would like to receive regular updates, please sign up for our free newsletter, at: https://www.blackberry.com/enewslett...-henewsletter.

I hope that you have found this information helpful. If there are still items to work on regarding this issue then please do not hesitate to contact one of our BlackBerry Technical Support Representatives by responding to this email with the service request number in the subject line for further troubleshooting or clarification.

Sincerely,

Elijah

RIM is on the way out, anyway. Too much competition and their product is too slow to evolve. I have a Blackberry 6320, I'd have something more useful if it weren't being paid for by work..

It's not much of a PDA, but there is nothing better for email. I get my email off the Exchange folder, with the ability to view folders. Everything is live with my Outlook without the need for syncing. Why can't any other company get this to work correctly?

If you're looking for a PDA/phone combination you might want to check out the Tungsten W from Palm or the Treo 600 from Handspring. Both work pretty well on the Mac and will do as much or more than the Blackberry for about the same price. Both will do e-mail and have built-in keyboards so you don't have to do any T9 input with a numerical keypad.

RIM's on the way out? What makes you say something like that? RIM's major problem seems to be the patent lawsuit it's now fighting, not a slow down in sales.
