Let's get this straight. Will the forthcoming new displays rumored in Jan. or March be technically better or will they be just cosmetically changed to match the G5? And, will I be able to use the rumored 30 inch display with my ATI 9800 128MB video card in my new dual G5? How do I find out what resolution/sizes that card supports?

I'm going crazy waiting having only a 17" since I moved my way old 21"crt to the other room for the spouse.

As long as new ones are released I'll be satisfied. Then, I can get a fire sale price on the current 20 or 23 for my Quicksilver.

Why are you asking for technical specs on something that hasn't even been anounced?

Do you honestly expext an answer that isn't total BS?

Norty, you may want to check out Appleinsider.com for rumors about new displays. Macnn doesn't usually rumormonger that much, but AI has a whole forum section for future hardware. My guess is you'll see a resolution bump and a silver/g5ish enclosure. I have a 20 inch cinema display though and it is AMAZING.....if Apple is to come out with a 30 incher like many are hoping, I am 100% sure that it will support your (and my) g5..

Go for the 23"

sidebar: Had a pc biased network friend looking at my 23" hd cinema display. Asked the price, and after I told him he said "I hate to tell you this, but they way overcharged you."

Response: "Huh... so you're 'Bitter, table for one'"
He paused, and said "Yup."

The 23's are awesome!
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

anaphora68, Thanks for your assanine response. My question was really how do I check/find what resolutions my video card can display? I have the 9800. I have it hooked up to my cheapo 17" which is just for palettes. The new one will be for ART. You can call us newbies if you want, but I'm a Photoshop pro. I'm sure my talent could blow your socks off, so lose the attitude! I'm just anxious to get a new display and somebody must of heard something out there. Loosen up message board.
