Hi,

I wondered if i could cause my iPod any damage by leaving it in the dock all the time.

Would it damage the battery as, theoretically, the battery is 'on charge' all the time.

Could any other damage occur? Do you leave yours connected all the time?

Thanks,

Matthew

you must not leave it in the dock all the time or else why even have it if you're not using it as a portable. i wouldn't think it would hurt it to keep it in the dock because once it is done charging doesn't the charger just shut off????

Thanks for the reply...

i don't use it all the time as a portable music player, kinda like once a week or so, but I would like to use the available space as a temporary hard-drive, whilst i await my G5 order.

Therefore, for convenience, i would like to leave it in the dock so it is ready at a click's notice, willing to obey my every drag...

That's the onyly reason

but you're thinking is the same as mine... doesn't seem to be doing much other than sitting there saying "Charged". That's it.

Again, many thanks,

Matthew

I've left my 10GB Gen2 plugged in for most of the 1 1/2 years I've had it, and the battery still seems to be in pretty good shape! (Probably 90% of new capacity)

I only use it about 2-3 times a month when i know I'm going to be doing something with lots of down time.
