I ordered two Pertech USB hubs directly from Pertech in mid July 2003. I had been reading positive reviews about them for several years now, and felt it wasn't worth spending the time fixing problems caused by cheaper hubs.

After my order, Pertech emailed me to say there would be a delay shipping the hubs due to overwhelming number of orders. I was also asked to pay extra US$5-6 to boost the hub's power to 240V (suitable for Australia), and add Australian plugs.

In late September (2 months later), I received the 2 hubs. However, when I plugged one into the wall, it blew immediately. White smoke everywhere. Thank goodness nothing else was damaged. I emailed Perry and he said it was likely the 2nd hub would be the same (i.e. not upgraded to Australian voltage). So I was asked to send both hubs back. Pertech would credit me the shipping cost, and would ship 2 new hubs to be at Pertech's expense.

After a long wait, I finally receive my 2 replacement hubs on 23rd November. This time, one of the hubs would not work from the AC power i.e. would only supply bus power. The other hub blew when plugged into the wall. More white smoke everywhere.

Pertech has refused to answer any of my emails now. I have tried all the email addresses on their website. I feel I have given them enough time to reply, and taken into account ThanksGiving and what not. I have also checked with my credit card company -- I never got the refund for shipping that Pertech promised.

This has been a very disappointing saga lasting 5 months, and I can only recommend avoiding this company.

Thank you.

I would never get anything from them just based on the horrible website!
