Does anyone know of a site that compares external firewire HDs? I'm looking for something in the 100-200GB range, and there seems to be something like a $50 price range at any given capacity. I'm just wondering if there's any good reason to prefer the higher-priced drives -- something I should be looking for in the specs, or something that's not there but important (e.g. reputation of being more reliable)?

THanks for any tips.

It seems there are few FW-only drives released these days, as it's real easy to put USB 2 and FW 2 on the back. You can find 120 GB FireWire drives all over the place, varying in quality, between $140 and $200.

I've got a LaCie 120 GB myself, and it's excellent. I wouldn't go with a Maxtor, if you find one for a deal, because three of the four drives (of several types) I bought from them failed within six months.
Actual conversation between UCLA and Stanford during a login on early Internet - U: I'm going to type an L! Did you get an L? S: I got one-one-four. L! U:Did you get the O? S: One-one-seven. U: <types G> S: The computer just crashed.
