it doesnt have to a new model, just thin and color screen.

This season saw a lot of new PDAs in the 175-200.00 range if you want something new. Check out the following:
Palm Tungsten E
Sony Clie SJ35
Both are nice machines with wonderful thin form factors and good applications suites. The Tungsten E works with OSX out of the box, where the Clie needs an additional 30.00 piece of software to connect.
These may be a bit out of your budget, but close.
The
I recommend looking on ebay for good deals on a lot of great machines that are no longer available new
Palm Tungsten T
Palm M515
Sony Clie NR 70v
Sony Clie T615
Note, you may want to grab one of the holiday buying guide magazines from Pen Computing...they cover a lot of devices in good detail.

I recommend ebay also if you don't mind a used handheld. You should also look for the Sony Clie T665, which is an upgrade of the T615.

Depending on how soon you need a PDA I would suggest waiting and watching Dell. They often have 10-20% discounts on PDAs and they sell Palms and Sonys. Also, when you buy if you search the web it is easy to find a 10% coupon floating around for the Dell online store.

Love my Clie TJ25, but be careful of the TJ35... The higher-end model (with MP3 capability) is under recall for a screen/backlight issue and has been pulled from stores.
And be sure to check whether the one in which you're interested syncs with OS X. I was told my Clie required additional software called The Missing Sync. Since buying though, I've read some people are syncing newer Clie's without it... I haven't tried it myself though.
Good luck.

Just chiming in to say that if you're looking for something at a reasonable price point, consider the palm tungsten E. I have had one for a couple of weeks now, and love the thing. It syncs beautifully with my iBook, and I can't say enough about it's size (small), battery life (long) and screen (unbelievably bright and clear).

I just bought the tungsten E and I am confused. does it sync with ical, the mac address book, and .mac mail or do i have to buy microsoft entourage for a smooth sync?

The m130 is the best you can get for your sub-$100 money. It's completely indestructable (plastic screen, flip lid, replaceable faceplates). It runs nearly all of the software being released today. The screen is small, but it's very bright and crisp; the SDIO slot allows easy and cheap expansions. However, it's not particularily thin, but on the other hand it doesn't need a case at all.
Palm OS 6, a major upgrade, is expected to be released this week. I would wait for the first crop of OS 6 devices until you make a bigger purchase; it's unlikely that PalmOne will release system updates for the existing models.
PalmSource claims OS 6 is said to bring tremendous improvements in internet, multimedia, performance (multitasking) and security.
Here's to a 320x480 Tungsten|E2 running OS 6.
