I just got a SliMP3 player www.slimdevices.com and it is absolutely fantastic. Having access to my music collection without futzing around with CDs, and listening to radio stations from the US and Europe (note that I'm in Peru!) is great.

Given that all my newly-ripped CDs are in AAC format, I neet to set up the player to 'understand' that format. Slim's FAQs refer you to the LAME site, but there is not much more there than compilable code (i.e. no ready-made plugin or driver to facilitate AAC play).

How does one get this going? Information for both Mac and PC setup for LAME will be appreciated, as I use both as servers.

Thanks.

Great that you got the player I have been looing at it for a while now. the main reason I have not purchased it is exactly the reason you are seeking help. While I have read it isn't that difficult to setup I feel that the makers of this product should just step up and update teh player to handle the AAC format form the get go. It is becoming a more popular format due to iitunes popularity and I just don't see why owners have to jump through some hoops to make the product compatible.

Good luck with that and when you do get it owrking please post and tell us how hard it was for you to setup.

Go register and voice your opinion over here:

If enough people request it I'm sure it'll get in there.
