I currently have a 2.0 drive hooked up to my xp pro tower, its set up as a fat32 drive

when i plug it into my powerbook, it will not read. does it need to me ntfs?

hello I migh have the answer.. I think if you format it with the mac it will format the drive fat16 in disk utility it says ms-dos file system.. I use it and had trouble until I formatted the disk with the mac instead of the pc..

would your pc read the disk after you formated it with the mac.

when i plug it in the status light on the hard drive, stays on and it does not register on the mac

yeah it was fine after using disk utility and formatting it ms-dos format I have yet to try anything with panther though .. if all you need is read access to the drive there is a program on version tracker that is supposed to let you access ntfs volumes..anyway goodluck
