A couple weeks ago I grabbed the iPod 1.3.1 firmware updater from SU. When I tried to install it on my iPod however it said my iPod didn't need updating even though its firmware is only version 1.3. Is the 1.3.1 only for particular models or for all first and second generation iPods? If it isn't how do I go about making my iPod realize it needs to upgrade?

I heard that iPod software 1.3 had issue with Panther (was okay in Jaguar), so Apple rolls out iPod Software 1.3.1 for Panther users.

I'm running Panther and I haven't noticed any problems. In fact I've got my iPod hooked up to my Powerbook right now. Or did you mean the 1.3 updater had problems with Panther so the 1.3.1 updater is a Panther friendly version?

well.. they should be identically the same.
