I was wondering if anyone can lead me to some mac-software that will support the Lowrance line of GPS units.
My father has purchased the Lowrance LC X-15MT Sonars, which is a hybrid fish finder/global positioning system. I've found several mac applications to support the Garmin line of GPS units but none for the Lowrance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe Route 66 will do that. You can get that from the Apple store. I think the National Geographic Maps will do the same.

Route 66 lists a NMEA 0183-compatible GPS receiver (a GPS receiver is not included with the software) as optional equipment.
I'll be buying that software as soon as I recover from my holiday spending. Do a search for GPS in the software forum. Route 66 seems to be the best option for Mac users right now, with some things done very well, but also with some room for improvement.

Hey Rayming,
I'm looking for a bluetooth GPS receiver that will work with both my 17" Powerbook + Route 66 and a Tungsten T3 + Mapopolis. Both the 17" and T3, of course, have bluetooth. Got any links...?

Rayming's TripNav TN-206 Bluetooth GPS Receiver, is also MAC compatible. No cables or wires to worry about ever. The TN-206 unit has been in great demand from both OS platforms. What sets the TN-206 unit apart from the rest of the market is that the unit is rated for 8 hours on a single charge, and has consistently tested 11+ hours, where the rest of the market's offerings are only rated for 6 hours. The TN-206 offering includes international A/C charger adapters to function literally anywhere in the world, and of course the standard D/C car charger as well. In fact, we even produced HP's Bluetooth GPS product in an OEM project earlier this year.
Here is the product page, I suggest doing a search to find a dealer that would be able to give you a lower price.

Or look here:

Be well.

I noticed the other day at REI that some of the various state geographical maps are available for OSX. Not all of them. For instance Idaho was, but Utah wasn't. I *think* those have the ability to download waystations into your GPS. I don't know if they support data going the other way via a PowerBook.

Get a Garmin then. It has software for OS X, and Garmin makes great GPS devices.
