US$9.99 or CAD$15 minus a small discount for educational customers.

Is this new? It's certainly much cheaper than it was a couple of months ago.

So I guess that confirms this sub $10 price is new. Perfect for the new iLife '04 (which was why I was prompted to visit the store in the first place).

Oh, and by the way, it's free shipping on orders of US$50.

Confirmed by MacMinute.

Apple slashes DVD-R media pricing in half

January 7, 2004 - 10:37 EST Apple has quietly cut the pricing of its 2x and 4x DVD-R media in half. The 2x DVD-R 5-pack is now priced at US$7.99 and the 4x DVD-R 5-pack is priced at $9.99. The 2x previously sold for $14.95, while the 4x retailed for $19.95. Apple's DVD-R discs offer a capacity of 4.7GB each, and are ideal for use with a SuperDrive and iDVD or DVD Studio Pro.

----

Also, I can't seem to find the 2X media at all at the Canadian store. I searched for both "DVD" and "2X" and neither show the 2X media at the Canadian store.

I'd prefer to get 2X media, since my drive is a 1-2X Panasonic anyway. Further, friends' 2X Pioneer drives will only burn at 1X with 4X media. Plus 2X is cheaper.

I don't buy generic media. Too many issues, at least for current media. The generics have been getting better with time though.

Try the special deals section. The US store has 2x for U$7.99.

The Canadian store is different. (The media gets shipped out from Mississauga.) There is no Special Deals site on the Canadian site.

Anyways, it's too late. I already ordered a three 5-packs. The 4X discs may come in useful from time to time, since some of my friends have 4X burners. I'll get other 2X media for the Pioneers.
