I have a friend who bought an iSight a while back, and he's having trouble getting it to work. I was able to video chat without any problems with another friend using my iSight, so the problem does not appear to be on my end.
The problem is that when we do an audio chat, the sound will cut out after 2 minutes (almost exactly). Sometimes it will cut back in for a few seconds, but it always cuts out again right away. If he restarts iChat, the problem remains, but if he restarts his computer, video chatting will work again for 2 minutes. Interestingly, it seems like the same thing happens if it is an audio-only chat as well.
I had him remove all the firewire peripherals and restart, but no effect. I also had him play around with iChat's bandwidth limitations, but to no effect. We can't think of anything else to try, and it seems like it's either an issue with his system (a G4 cube) or with his internet provider. Does anyone have any suggestions for something else to try here? I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
