ok i have one of the original Que! cd burners that still just does not want to run in os X despite it being the premier drive that apple featured way back.

but anyways i was wondering if i can rip the drive outa the usb case and stick one of these new cheap fast burner jobs in there and use that case for the bridge?

Well unless it's USB 2 (and your mac has USB 2), the USB interface will slow you down to 4x burns (if you're lucky) and 6x reading.

Just get a FireWire drive.

Also support for all USB 1.1 CD burners seems to have been dropped sometime after the release of 10.2 So firewire or USB 2 seems to be your only options.
