Is it possible to share a firewire hard drive with other macs on your network? I thought so, which was the reason for buying a new 200 gig LaCie, however I can't seem to be able to share it. Any tips? I'm running 10.3 on the host as well as connected computers.

Thanks!

I tried to do the same thing.
What you can do is get rid of the permissions on that disk (get info on the disk) and then connect to it from the other macs with the network...

I'm interested in a better solution

When I get info on the disk and look under ownership and permissions, it simply says "You can read and write".

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Like I mentioned in my second post, the only thing that is under "Ownership & Permissions" is text that says simply "You can read & write". That's all it says, nowhere to click, nothing. It's not like other files, folders, etc. where you can choose who can do what. There are no options to change the ownership/permissions.

Also, you may find a shareware program called Sharepoints to be useful.

… or edit smb.conf yourself. But probably Sharepoints is the right `point' to start.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
