This is just the type of product I'm looking for. Something that gives me the ability to display the digital content on my Mac (Music, Photos, and Movies) on my home theater over my Airport network.
There's only one problem ...... it does not play music from the ITMS! It will be way too much of a hassle to convert all my ITMS tracks into MP3s just so this thing will play them. They would have had my money in an instant if not for this limitation.

Two problems, it doesn't play EyeTV movies that have been saved outside of the EyeTV. I can forgive them for not playing other QuickTime movies, but who keeps every recording in EyeTV?

EyeHome plays all EyeTV MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 content, whether in the EyeTV Archive, or exported to QuickTime. For exported MPEG-1 files with a .mov extension, EyeHome still understands that the actual data content is MPEG-1, and thereby accepts the file. Just put it in your Movies directory.
In general, EyeHome accepts MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and DivX, no matter what the extension is. Thus, an .avi DivX works fine. What matters is the codec.
More questions about EyeHome? Contact me at support@elgato.com - I'm Nick Freeman, elgato technical support. I just wanted to chime in this once to make sure this issue was understood. I always read MacNN forums for talk about our products, and all your positive and negative comments are considered.
Thanks again for your interest in Eyehome.

Sweet- nice to see you here, Nick. We've talked before (as other online identities), and Nick has always been helpful and interested in my feedback on the product- one of the influencing factors that made me pre-order the EyeHome as soon as I read the spec. sheet. I've been looking for a way to bridge the gap between my EyeTV and my couch, so I have high hopes for the EyeHome.
Yes, the no iTMS music limitation is a drag. There is a viable workaround (convert to MP3), but I acknowledge the drawbacks.
Nick- I'm interested in seeing what the remote is going to look like. Does it have it's own remote, or did you guys make use of the All In Wonder remote, or similar?

Indeed. I might consider a purchase if the unit was upgradable. That is, if there was a reasonable expectation that support for ITMS tracks could be added in the future.
Also, couldn't the ITMS restriction be "circumvented" by simply playing the track on the Mac itself and just streaming the audio output to the EyeHome ... instead of playing the file itself on the EyeHome? I figure it's not supporting the protected tracks because it doesn't have access to the FairPlay DRM "authorization" protocol ... so why not just play the track on a machine that's already authorized and just stream the sound to the EyeHome?

The EyeHome shares the same basic remote at the EyeTV 200, 300 and 400, only with different button mapping. This remote was custom desinged by Elgato. If you want to see a picture, email me at support@elgato.com and I'll send you one.
EyeHome has upgradable firmware - when new features are ready, just download them from our servers. The server software can also be updated, of course.
AACs are now supported in unencrypted form. Encrypted AACs, like those from the iTunes music store, will be supported if possible. Arrangements have to be made with Apple for DRM support.
I'll drop out of this discussion now. Contact Elgato directly if you have specific questions about EyeHome.
