I've been wondering what HP might name their version of the iPod. I'm thinking the HPod. What can you come up with?

Anyone know the sizes and pricing of the HP iPod? I'm assuming it will be identical to Apple but I am curious...

Knowing them, they'll call it the HP Digital Music Player HZ-102523 or something.

Call me odd. But I love the colors. I've always like HPs colors, and dark colors in general.

It kind of disapoints me how quick you all are to jump on HP. Of all the companies/services they could have gone with, they went with our beloved Apple and iTunes. Because of HP, the iPod will reach an even larger audience, and iTunes and the iTunes Music Store will truly prosper now. I don't think many of you understand exactly how many notebooks and desktops HP ships every year, or even every quarter. They may be 2nd to Dell, but they still ship out more units per quarter than Apple does per year. And with the iTunes icon being one of the first things that a new HP buyer sees on their desktop, you know they are at least going to check it out, and probably buy at least one song.

People will now use iTunes who would have never downloaded it on their own, either because they didn't know or they simply don't care. And they're going to use it because it will already be at their fingers from the first time they turn on the machine. And even if the HP masses don't jump on the iTMS wagon and buy a load of music, they will almost certainly choose to use iTunes as their MP3 jukebox for all their pirated MP3s, because it doesn't take a sharp eye to see that iTunes is far and away the best. Having the HP owners even use iTunes if only for MP3 organizing and not purchasing music is still great, because it puts Apple 100% directly in Microsoft territory.

More over, HP is one of the only Win-centric companies that I do not have a moral qualm with. So, yippy...

Anyways, if the HP Player is a little cheaper, I will probably buy one. Like I said, I like the look, and buying one would only solidify the justification for an alliance between HP and Apple. Because whether or not you people want to admit it, having HP as an ally is definately a good thing.

This thread has nothing to do with whether or not the "My God That's Ugly" Pod is a good idea or not. That's not in dispute. What is in dispute is how attractive it is. And I certainly think it's not very attractive in the videos I've seen. YMMV.

I think HP will name it, so we won't have to worry about it. I must say I am curious about what incarnations it will be available in ie will it always be the same as the iPod, or will it be a model behind, will it offer something the iPod does not have? What will HP do with it to make it their own? I also wonder what HP plans on doing with it in it's overall strategy. I just think this was a great move by both companies, and Realnetworks is all pissed they could not get anything similiar.

I have an HP Pavillion desktop. I call it (on the network) "HPieceofShite". So it should be the HPieceofShitePod.

All product availability and information will be on their site in the summer.
Check their news archives.

I think the HiPod is great news because I can remind my aunt that her company is selling an Apple product every time she has something negative to say about Mac.
The color looks like some clear goop Nickelodeon used to make.

I was thinking HiPod. I doubt HP would actually want to call it that, but I think we should anyway. They'll give it some stupid name that doesn't explain nearly as well what it is.
