Hello,

Screwed up the i Pod by letting friend plug my mac ipod into his crappy windows based machine. Lost all my music on both iPOD and powerbook library.

i Pod still shows my contacts and calendar and does the isync thing. Just no music.

i Pod mounts to desktop but not to i Tunes. When I open the i Pod mounted on desktop it says I have only 963k left. I'm hoping that means the music is still there. Any suggestions on what to do before going in for the final restore?

BTW the restore option is not available (grayed out) in the software update software.

Use Disk Utility to repair disk and/or permissions? That'd be my only guess.

Go get one of those utilities from versiontracker that lets you see your music files. If you can, download them, then wipe your ipod.
