Hi, i have a 5gb original iPod, i bought it at a clearance sale nearly a year ago, i know that if i want to buy Applecare it has to be within a year of the original purchase, i just wanted your opinion's on this matter? Would it be worth it for me to get Applecare or considering how cheaply 1st gen iPod can be picked up, should i leave it? Say 1.5 years down the line and the iPod breaks, would Apple repair it or replace it? Any help or experiences with Applecare appreciated.

Regards,

Osmo

AppleCare is great, I myself plan to get it for the iPod mini I have on order.

However, did you buy the iPod brand new? You may need to fax proof of purchase to Apple, if they have a different date of purchase in their system.

You _may_ qualify for the EDU AppleCare price of $47, if you are student, faculty, or staff at a K12 or higher ed institution.
My opinions are my own, and not those of anybody else, including my employer.

Hi, yeah it was bought new, i should have the receipt here somewhere, i think ill give Apple a call in the morning and ask about the student discount you mentioned, if its reasonable ill probably go ahead with it. Anybody else here ever had to use Applecare? if so what did you think of them? I just dont want to pay up then find out they are useless.
