I have a 120Gb drive in my unbranded firewire enclosure. I would like to put in a 200-250Gb drive, but can't find out whether that will work.

Apparently the unit has an oxford 911 firewire bridge, but that's all I know about it.

Can anyone tell me how to find out more, and how to find out what the largest drive size would be.

Many thanks,

J.

those size drives nearly always are 3.5" (desktop) drives. If it can fit inside a desktop drive bay, it will fit the firewire enclosure.

I know it will physically fit, as I have a 120Gb drive in already, but I've been told that there are problems with large size drives, ie bigger than 136Gb. I've been told it depends on the firewire bridge and the ide driver built into it as to what size drive it can take.

I can't figure out how to find out what specs the drive adheres to.

As long as you have the 911, it'll be fine.
