I just ordered an ipod mini online, and:

"PERSONALIZED IPOD 4GB BLUE-USA
Open Est. Ship 02/17/2004"

What in the...!!! a full month just for an ipod? this is ridiculous. is this for real?

Of course. Apple stated that they would begin shipping in February. Your date is in February. What exactly surprises you?

Yeah...Steve said in the Keynote, that the mini would not be shipping in the US until 2/16/04, and sometime in April for the rest of the world.

I placed my order 1 hour after the keynote...now, I just gotta wait. It will be worth it though.

I had not heard of this. Is it in the store yet? Could I cancel my order and pick it up in the store? I would gladly trade the free engraving for an extra month.

No...they are not even in the stores yet. It has nothing to do with the engraving either....plain and simple...the iPod mini will not ship, or show up in stores until Feb. Sorry...

Apple announced the iPod mini at Macworld Expo. They said it would be available in February. That means it will start shipping in February, both to online buyers and to the retail stores.

i am tempted to cancel my order and just order a 15gb ipod, but i don't think i'll do this for a few reasons:

1. I only have 2-3gb of music so 4gb suits my needs.
2. Ipod Mini's are smaller
3. Ipod Mini's are cheaper
4. Ipod Mini comes in blue

Waiting a month really sucks though. This will give me some time to get all of my mp3's organized I suppose. (filling out the id3 tags, adding bpm and year information, etc)

I carved the mini and the normal ipod out of styrofoam. The mini is a really great size, but the normal Ipod is already pretty small. I'm quite torn about which one is best for me.

The new wheel will actually be the deciding factor. I really like the new wheel's design.
