I have bought at 2nd hand Xerox DocuPrint C55 laserprinter (but with no discs/cd's). I would like to use it as a directly connected printer, and have tried both with an ordinary network cable and a cross-over cable. I have set it up to use TCP/IP with a manually set IP number, which I then have used in order to connect to it from the Print center on my mac, but haven't been able to connect to it.
Any good ideas on how to make them talk together? Or do I have to get a switch/router in order to make it work?

I am using a TiBook with 10.2.4 and an iBook with 10.3.2

TIA,
Peter

you do not need the crossover cable for sure, b/c your powerbook is auto-sensing.

Also my first thought, but the I wasn't sure if that only worked when connecting to other computers, plus the iBook isn't auto-sensing.

But thanks anyway.
