Is there someone or company out there that keeps a track of Mac compatible hardware ?

At this time I'm looking to purchase either new or second hand a mini digital camera. There seems to be an overwhelming amount of these items but most don;t espouse a mutuality with our beloved platform of choice ? My hunt for a camera that I can afford (ie less then $100US) seems almost an impossibility but its always a question of knowing where to look, or at the very least maybe even if its at all possible that a certain amount of pc compatible peripheral hardware can be used on Macs anyway ? I say this in the light of my recent past when I was looking for a Mac compatiable CD Writer, the one I eventually bought was purported to be a pc only compatiable device, but I bought it on the basis that I was told by the vendor that it would work in my machine provided I didn't try to use Apple burning products like iTunes etc (I use toast, works fine to) and its a bit weird because although its a Sony CD Writer its not among the Apple recommends plus my G3 doesn't even list it as a suppoting device in the Apple System Profiler ! Thus if vendors are suitably knowledgeable about Mac's they can sell there devices to Mac owners, but most vendors as I continue to experience hate Macs and thus react accordingly and its odd that they should do this especially if they are in the businees of making money, surely ?

I thought perhaps that someone or company might be keeping a tracking record in the form of an archive of Mac compatibility hardware products and issues.

Of course my problems in acquiring a suitable camera are compounded by being an Australian resident and don't have a credit card, although with a friends assistance maybe able to acquie a camera at ebay, but the problem is knowing which cameras and model numbers etc that may be acceptable ?

The Cybershot U series are tiny. Look for the U10, U20, or U30 (although that one costs a bit more than $100).

Yes there is. DealMac is a great place to look. At the top of the page, in the header, they have other more specific categories. Like dealcam.com, dealram.com, etc. Very nice site.
