I wonder if a Xbox networked to a Macintosh could function as an iTunes player?

In my setup, the Xbox would be connected to the stereo system in my living room, so I can play my music there instead of in the office.

Man, that would be tremendous. Possible?

You can do similar stuff with the mediaplayer program for the PS2 which runs on a PC or a Mac. The only problem is it's not a direct interface with iTunes and I've had sketchy results with some aspects of the program. check out BroadQ to see what I mean.

Now when the XBox2 comes out I could see a strong chance of it working since it's rumored to have a G5 in it. But then again I doubt it since M$ constantly claims iTunes is bad for the end user.

Yeah, I'll bet they do. What, it's no good because it doesn't come from Redmond, WA?! Such arrogance.

Yes, but only through XBMP. The streaming is not a problem, but you would have to work through the file structure yourself for files and albums - not bad since iTunes organizes by artist and album, but playlists don't work.

Ever since it got modded, I love my Xbox.
