if i have a media card reader...can i upload pics back onto it and view it o the camera

(pics taken by my camera earlier)

I have a Canon S400 and I'm trying to put photos via a Lexar Firewire card reader back onto a 256mb UltraII cf card. i drag it into the folder, and when i preview it on the camera its corrupted data. these pics were taken by my camera.

any ideas?

Its best to only transfer images FROM a CF card and to ONLY reformat the card IN the camera. That simple rule will avoid MUCH future problems (sooner or later corruption of card data).

If you insist uploading images to the card, format the card ONLY in camera and be sure to place back in folder structure created by the camera, i.e take a few pics, individually erase them in the camera, then upload to that folder.

If the S400 came with Canon's ImageBrowser software, you should be able to use that to put images back onto the card using that App. If you have a DCIM folder with the appropriately-named CANON### folders in it, ImageBrowser should act as though that folder is a connected camera and allow you to upload images to it, and said images should get displayed ok on your camera. I forget the specifics, but the software manual should be able to help you from there..

Good Luck.
