I have 2 base stations, a graphite old style one and an airport extreme.

The extreme base station is my main hub, but I'd like to set up the second base station to extend the range of the first.

Any idea on how to do this or where to get the right docs?

You may want to try this (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120228) pdf file from Apple that is a great overview of designing Airport Networks. Do a search for WDS and Roam within the file.

I did this, but now have two extreme BS. You do what you have done with the AEBS remaining your router. From your other ethernet port run an ethernet cable to your ABS, I had it out from my AEBS about 75feet. You can, of course, have an intermediate switch/hub if you have hardwire computers on your network, is does not matter. On the ABS you will uncheck the "distribute IP Address", under the network tab. Name the ABS network the exact name you have in your AEBS network name, and I believe that is it.

I did exactly the same thing at my parents house - set the network name to the same on both BaseStations.

We had problems with the Snow BS being a DHCP Server - but setting the Graphite BS as the DHCP server fixed that.

Discussion and support of all that other hardware that didn't come inside your computer. Airport (and other 802.11 wireless) belongs in Networking, however.
