Does anyone have any insight as to why the above combination will not print. Word even "unexpectedly quits". Excel prints. So does Appleworks and other programs such as Explorer.

Added extra RAM, freed up HDD space, installed the newest driver from HP. NO joy

Reverted to older Epson printer. Drivers included with OSX. Works fine.

Go figure.

What kind of Mac do you have?

I have the following setup:

Dual 1.25Ghz MDD FW800 Powermac 1.25GB Ram
HP Photosmart 7550
MacOs 10.2.8

I have no trouble printing from MS Word with this combination, and I had no problems when I had the same combination on my Powerbook. Try locating the cd that came with your printer and install those drivers after uninstalling the latest ones. You might also try downloading all the lastes patches from the Microsoft downloads page as well. Hope that helps..

iMac DV 400Mhz G3

Tried the drivers with the printer, they claim only to be good through 10.1 and will not install. They refer you to the HP support site for the newest driver.

Office is upgraded.

I suppose an upgrade to 10.3.2 is indicated, except this older iMac does not have enough free HDD space.
