I just got a new Sony Ericsson T616 last weekend, and so far I am loving it, with only one problem. I can't seem to get it to connect with my iMac for the life of me. I have bluetooth turned on in both devices, with the iMac set to discoverable and the phone is set to visible.
I have the phone set up as a paired device in the bluetooth options, and even managed to get it to sync with iSync earlier this week. The only way I could get a connection however was by holding the phone behind the screen right next to the base of the computer. Since then I haven't even gotten a connection by doing that, so I am wondering if anybody has any idea what to do. It seems like there is a really weak signal, if thats even possible. Could there potentially be any interference from the wireless mouse (RF, not BT), or the Airport connection? Any suggestions would be welcome!

I just bought the Sony Ericsson T608. If it works the same as the T616, both the computer and the phone need to be paired to each other. Once they are both paired try turning Bluetooth to always on in the mode settings. You don't need to make the phone discoverable since it's already paired to the computer. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. Its already paired, but I tried it with discoverable off anyways. No luck. Anybody else have any idea what I am doing wrong here? Thanks.

Not that this helps solve your problem at all, but my T616 is working very well with my G5 with "built in" Bluetooth. Perhaps you just don't have a clear signal from the iMac?

I think that is very possible, however I can't imagine what would cause such a weak signal. The desk is just a regular wood surface, and there is nothing between the phone and the computer itself.
