No and no.
For about another 100 bucks (or less if you would do refurbished from Epson), you could get the Epson 2200. The 2000P was never very good, even when it was new 4 yrs ago. But the 2200 is awesome. It is the best desktop digital photo printer available, period.

I'll try to put this in your language:
but i thot you said it was 500 not 700 then 800 which is it. it is better i know. you should get it because it is and 2000p is old not new so you can't compare. if you found 2000p for 500 what. how can be 500 if 800 or 700. refurbished maybe. refurbished yes the 2200 is the best. it can not get for 500. you will have to pay more to for get better 2200 it is. try like 559 or for 600 maybe but pricegrabber.com tells it. get you link there. refurb 2200 better still over 2000p new 2000p junk.

The 2000 is notorious for bad metamerism. The 2200 is quite a bit better. It also has an additional ink cartridge. Most people would agree that the 2200 is worth the additional money over the price you quote. But you may not be very picky and only you can decide what you can afford. Your call.

I have no idea what this means, so I'll pretend it doesn't exist.
Im getting it brand new for 500 bucks. My freind has it and the quality looks very good looks damn good to me. What is wrong with it. If you can find it for under 500 bucks let me know.
Color shifting inks.
Metamerism.
Non-lightfast inks.
Poor color gamut.
SLOW.
Very (very!) poor profiles.
Poor paper support.
To name a few... The printer is, was, has ever been and will forever be a DOG. Don't buy 1 at any price, especially when you can get a 2200 (the finest of all photo printers available, bar none) for a mere 100 bucks more. You will need to spend AT LEAST another $100 on the 2000P for decent profiles. And even then they'll be nowhere near as good as the 2200's. Not to mention that the 2200 is cheaper to operate and will require FAR less test prints. If you're gonna spend $500 on a photo printer today, you'd have to be crazy to not spend another $100 for something good, like the 2200. This is an absolute no-brainer. Forget the 2000P.

Sorry, I'll try again. Epsons are overrated and an incredible waste of money as it will muck up most of your prints with streaks and you cannot replaced the clogged print heads. Ever!

I am not talking about Epson printers as a whole. As I've pointed out to you on any number of occasions, the 2200 is not just a bigger version of some other Epson desktop printer. You can keep blindly and ignorantly blathering "just get a Canon" all you like, but but you obviously aren't familiar with the 2200 (again, the topic of my posts). Until you are, you might want to target your Canon posts to other threads dealing with other toy printers like your Canon. Just a suggestion.

I have owned 4 Epsons (low end and high end) and they all eventually had clogged heads and other problems. I went Canon and never looked back!

Thanks for the great suggestion and your concern. Every Epson printer I have ever worked with from low end to top of the line has had clogging problems. I went and replaced my 2 Epsons with a "toy" Canon and I have got incredible prints have never a clogged print head. Wow, toys do wonders!

My Epsons clogged and ate ink for breakfast.
My Canons never clog(ged), and sip at the ink as if it were liquid gold (oh wait, it basically is!).
And if Canon can achieve the same print quality with 6 inks that Epson needs 7 inks to achieve, where's the problem?!?
Canon has, of late, nailed ink-jet right on the head. Epson's just... languishing with 1999 technology.

While I find some of your opinions on this thread (sic) highly enlightened, I can't agree with you here. The 2200 is a different beast altogether, with far more in common to the 7600, 9600 and 10xxx than the rest of the Epson inkjet line. These heads DO NOT clog. And 1440 on a 2200 is as high as you'd ever need to print, which'll save a lot of ink over 2880. The 2200 is definitely aimed at the pro-sumer. The magic is in the low Delta E from unit to unit. This allows the canned Epson profiles to be spectacular on any of the 2200s, eliminating the need for expensive and frustrating custom profiling. This also allows for accurate CYMK press proofs on the 2200. Have many printing houses accept Canon output as a press proof lately? Now this may not be relevant to many users, but to those that it is, it is invaluable. The printing technology behind the 2200 is, quite simply, amazing. It's not about making "great looking" prints. It's really about making accurate and reliable prints in a managed color workflow. In this regard, Canon has nothing on Epson's pro-sumer line (in fact, nobody does).

Dude, you really know nothing about these printers, so being so adamant about these imagined or assumed problems accomplishes nothing for anyone. If there was a head clogging problem, you simply wouldn't find them in EVERY pro digital lab and printing outfit everywhere. You're out of your league here. These are pro-grade printers made for professionals and pro-sumers. They are EXCELLENT printers.
