I'm wanting to build a small, portable, mirrored RAID for critical data (yes, I know, "critical" and "portable" don't typically go together in the same sentence...).
I thinking about buying two 2.5" 7200rpm 60GB notebook drives, putting each in to a small pocket/portable case, and daisy chaining the two together. Speed is desirable but not super critical (since they'll be driven off a single FW channel); data integrity is.
Would a single FireWire 400 port provide enough power for both drives, or would I be stuck using an external power brick connected to one of the drives?
Anyone tried powering two drives off one FW 400 channel?
