Anyone know of any kits to use your built-in bluetooth to stream your music to your stereo.
Or perhaps some AC powered BT Speakers?

What I'm looking for is good ac powered stereo sound without having to plug anything into my powerbook (and eventual G5).

I searched google and it seems the concept is still in its infancy.

If a group of mimes are miming a forest and one falls down, does he make a sound?

Not sure about Bluetooth, or even if it's possible via Bluetooth (too slow?). But El Gato has a nice piece of hardware for streaming audio, video, web, etc to your home entertainment system via Airport (or wired Ethernet). Check it out here.

Bluetooth is fast enough at 1MB/s max. All I found were headphones, and raw chips and controlller but no finished products. I'll dig around some more but perhaps someone will stumble across this thread that has a solution.

elgato's solution is pretty cool but not what i'm looking for.

These guys are the only ones I've found so far. Seems to have been from over a year ago. Strange the technology is call iWish.

I am not exactly sure, but isn't Bluetooth only intended for communication over short distances? I'd assume you loose a lot of signal strength across your room, left alone between rooms. my friends BT headset for his cellphone would give up at 4 meters or so.

Nice idea though with the wireless audio transmission. But as ::maroma:: said, maybe airport is more suitable.

I'm gonna bump this. My stereo is about 2 feet from my Powerbook and having a wireless bluetooth connection to it would be awesome. The fewer cords the better! Same goes for my printer. It's 4 feet away and bluetooth to it would be great too.

If bluetooth connectivity products have been made someone please post it up!

I've read somewhere that they are working on a technology that can let you use BT to speakers and such, but they are still working on it to get all the bugs out. Not sure how long it will take before it'll finally be out onto the market. Wait until end of this year and you should see some more reports or even products out with this.

I beta-tested (about 30 minutes) a hardware product that does something like this. A very small battery powered (AA cells) module plugs into the microphone output jack (analog stereo) of any audio device (iPod, Mac, stereo, etc.) and converts the analog audio signal to encoded stereo bluetooth. This signal is paired with a set of stereo headphones (AA battery powered) that decode the encoded BT signal and play it in stereo thru the phones. The range on the prototype was through a 2 x 4 double plasterboard wall of my office and across a 20-foot living room with excellent stereo clarity and fidelity.
The company is Japanese and I am supposed to be seeing the second prototype soon.
Could be a big seller I guess but although I am not under ND, I can't say any more.
