I am very interested in getting the mini and reading the size specifications and watching Steve Jobs' keynote I decided to experiment before I spent my money. I created an actual size imgae of the mini and took photos of it in my hand. I also took standard size business cards for thickness purposes for some sort of reference of thickness. Though this is just an experiment I noticed it was difficult but not uncomfortable to navigate with one hand around the touchpad. My hands are not large at all and the photo's show the how it fits in my hand. I do need to go to the Apple store and feel the actual product but from this simple experiment it seems that larger handed people may find it difficult to use this single handed. When I held this in my one hand and navigated with the other it was easy. I am able to use the current iPod in one hand comfortably. But this was slightly more difficult. I'm not making a big deal of this but just did a quick experiment. and if you have any questions post them.
Photo's from MWSF
mini_iPod size 3.6"x2.0"x0.5"

I'm thinking about getting the iPod mini as well later on, I hope the size will be ok in my hand. I don't have a big hand either, so it should be just right for me.

I played with one at MacWorld. It was easy to use and my hands are not small. A more striking difference is the smaller screen. Looked like the same number of pixels though so you do not lose anything there...

I ordered a iPod mini on Sunday, and as of now with my status order, it says shipping: On or before
03/02/2004 Maybe it's because I ordered too late and there's a lot of orders in front of me, or it's because I also choose the free engraving offer.

I like jokes...but I don't know what either of you are talking about. Go on, risk it - point me in the direction of any bits I need to understand...
Edit: Reads title of thread and enjoys Tooki's joke

The mini has a finer dot pitch, but they also shave some off the size so you do end up losing a bit of resolution.
iPod: 160-by-128-pixel resolution, 0.24-mm dot pitch
iPod mini: 138-by-110-pixel resolution, 0.22-mm dot pitch

I'm tempted to ask stevesnj if, with his big hands, is he proportionally bigger in 'other places'...
So Yes? No? Average?

LOL...well actually like I say in my post my hands are not big. But all I have to say to this is that since my hands are small I do blow the 'Large hands' myth out of the water.

The Mini screen has a smaller pixel size, but they've also reduced the font size, which compensates somewhat. (In fact, the Notes font looks MORE readable to me on the mini. See the official iPod site to compare the two screens side by side:
