I run 2 external LaCie firewire 400 drives on my G4 (10.3.2) to store my mp3s. Been doing so for approximately a year and never had any problems. That has changed. Within the last week or so I've been having issues with iTunes locking up anytime I'm ripping to or listening to music on the 2nd drive. It doesn't always happen right away. For example, I just ripped 4 CDs and about a 1/4 of the way into the 4th disk it stopped. If I 'force quit' iTunes then try to shut down the computer, it just sits there and does nothing. However, if I eject the second drive, then power it down the problem goes away and I can close down iTunes no problems.

I haven't installed anything on my computer except for the latest system updates provided by Apple. I'm starting to think maybe it's a problem with the drive??? What do you think? There's still 7.5GB of space left on it so it doesn't seem to be a space issue.
