My iPod battery, like many others, is starting to go. It does not even work sometimes after it has been charged. Regardless of all of this, I would like to get another iPod, one that is bigger naturally. There was a rumor that since Apple says that they will give a new or refurbished iPod as part of their battery replacement program, 1st generation 5 Gig's would be upgraded to at least a 10G 3rd gen. I would like to know if anyone has had experiance with this in reality or not. If not, I would just assume get a new iPod. Please let me know.

Thank you.

I don't get it... that's not battery replacement, that's full iPod replacement. Why would Apple do that for $99?

Sounds pretty far-fetched to me. But have you heard about the $299 battery replacement program? You get a 15 GB 3rd gen iPod, and you get to keep your original 5 GB, too!

Very funny... And that is what I probably will do, actually $269 w/college discount. I figured it was worth a shot to see what other people's experiances were. Actually I saw a 40G open box at BB (no headphones) for $424, but I didn't have that kind of coin.
