Howdy!

I'm a macamateur...newbie...new kid on the mac-block
I have an iMac OS 10.2.8 Jaguar 800mb RAM 80gb hard drive

My Mictrotek scanner package was advertised to work in OS X.
The ad makes you believe the OCR software will work in OS X with all OS X scanner software. BUT - the OCR software only works in Classic.

PROBLEM #1 - NOBODY CAN FIND EACH OTHER:
When I loaded the Classic version software, my scanner software and my OCR software don't find each other!
Scanner software can't find the scanner!
-Type of scanner: Microtek Scanmaker 8700 Pro
-Type of OCR software: Abbyy Finereader
WHAT DO I DO? WHAT WILL MAKE THIS WORK?

PROBLEM #2 - NEED BOTH OCR & UNINSTALL SOFTWARE:
I need RELIABLE OCR software for OSX.
I also need RELIABLE Uninstall software for OSX and CLASSIC. You know - the kind that will uninstall the WHOLE package, not leave behind files it should have deleted.
Any advice on OCR and Uninstall packages? Is Omnipage X the only viable option for OSX? Anything as good or even better for less $$$?

Thanks for any and all help on these 2 problems, and am glad to be a macamateur!!!

Have you tried contacting the support department of the makers of your scanner?

Oh, most definitely. Very sparse advice. Believe me. All I got from them was that my OCR software only works in CLassic. That AIN'T how the online ad OR the box ad reads. Nope, they were very spare on help
