I want to add 7.1 surround sound to my PowerMac G4 (dual 1.25), but I'm questioning whether to go with the Revo PCI card or the Sonica Theater, which would give me the option to switch the sound source between my desktop and laptop (Al 15") if I so desired.
In my research I've heard some good and bad things about the drivers for both, and it sounds like the Panther issues have been worked out (both my machines are running 10.3.2). I also read one comment that suggested that the Revo gets more attention from M-audio in terms of better drivers and such.
So my question is, based on what I can see, I'm leaning towards the Sonica Theater, but are there any unpublicized features of the Revo that I would be missing? Does one have better software, for instance, or would I be using Panther's built-in controls anyway? My intended use of the card is for 7.1 surround, and to record into it for use with Garageband.
Any advice, pros and cons, or links to more comparissons would be much appreciated!
