When I do get my G5...and I will someday...what are the best Mac speakers? Sounsticks are certainly compact - and the clear subwoofer is gorgeous, but what is state of the art?

If you are going to spend $200 on the Soundsticks, I would get the Bose Companion 3 instead:

Bose Companion 3

this seems the best to me in terms of design and quality.

www.klipsch.com

Their D-5.1 gmx speakers are ~$199 through their store. If you're going to spend anything near that much get those you will NOT be sorry.

They have optical interface too, works wonderfully with the g5

Actually better yet, newegg has them for $220 (I was wrong klipsch sells them for $249)... That's still seriously the best $20 you'll ever spend on a pair of speakers -- free shipping too

If you prefer 2.1's there's also these... they're analog but still way better than the soundsticks.

This comes from someone who has used them before and own a pair of isub/pros myself (about the same as soundsticks but slightly different connection method) -- the one thing they have no other speakers do is the coolness factor but sound is a different story. The klipsch system is a definate "upgrade" ya know

If you are looking for outstanding design get the soundsticks 1 or 2. They also have more then enough bass and great clarity.

If you are looking for "louder and boomier" get one of the above brands. The subs are ugly and black is sooo PC

Do a search for speakers. This topic gets covered about once a week, and the answers are the same NO MATTER WHAT MAC YOU HAVE!
