Does someone know why iphoto can not see my camcorder memory stick when I use firewire? I looked for setting in iphoto but saw nothing that would allow me to get my pictures off the memory stick. If I use the usb cable all is well, but I do not want to use the usb unless I have to.

camcorder is an canon optura 20
System is a 1.25Ghz G4, OS is Panther

Thanks

it might be the case that canon (note the single n), in a dumb-headed move, decided that firewire would be for video alone, and usb for photos alone. in which case you'd be out of luck.

You are right. USB is for photo and Firewire for video. That is the way it is built. Sorry, you need to use both cables.

Thanks, It looks like I will be using both the usb and firewire connections.
