So I vote for blue or silver to be the most popular. I also vote for green to be the least popular, with gold coming in second most unpopular.

However, I also think that Apple will sell large numbers of all of them.

i think silver will be the one. goes well with the pro hardware (g5 and powerbooks). i still cant shake the feeling that once the fad phase of the mini will pass, people will see the fact that for only $50 more you can have almost 4 times the space to store stuff, and all the peripherals that the 15gb ipod unlocks. i dunno. still seems to damn expensive for what you get. i dont think the form factor is worth the price.

Well, 100000 pre-orders would disagree with you. I also think the form factor is great. When it hits 8 GB, I'll probably buy one and sell off my 15 GB 3G.

4 GB is not enough fo me, since I like to keep a couple of GB free for data.

I think it will be silver and blue. Silver for people who are buying the mini just for its size, blue will be the most popular among people who want a more vibrant color.

The form factor is perfect. I ordered mine (in the US) because I wanted an iPod, but the normal iPod is too big and heavy for me and even the 40GB isn't enough for all of my music .And the thing is that I really do not need all that music with me all te time. I just make good playlists. I probably won't use the entire 4GB. And the best thing: It only costs me 220 euros (€197=$249 at the day of the announcement + a bit extra for the person that brings it along from the US). The iPod Mini will probably retail for €250 or more here... But the mini has 2 downsides: 8 hours battery is a bit in the short side and no LCD remote. (I'm coming form a Sony MZ-E10 MD-player).

Anyway, on topic: I orderded the silver one

Personal opinion, I think Pink will be pretty popular. I just bought my wife a new coach purse and wallet and it's limited edition in Pink. From what people say on TV and such, pink is going to be the color for this summer, and if that's the case, we know all the socialites will have a pink iPod.... I like silver, but we already pre-ordered a pink one for her so it matches her purse....hell the purse was more expensive than the ipod

Personally, Silver is always classy, but on the wild side Pink and Green are nice. I think BLUE is the ugliest of them all...

Silver for sure. I'd probably want to get blue, though (but green is nice too! You don't see enough green on electronics). But I'm still perfectly happy with my old 10GB iPod.

Silver - 66
Pink - 105
Blue - 220
Green - 324
Gold - 1117

I wonder how these ranking translate into real sales numbers.

Pink is the new neutral.

Personally, I am waiting to see the colors in person before making a choice. The patterned iMac cases looked very different in the stores than they did in photos.

Silver will be #1 for guys, pink #1 for girls. Blue will probably be #2 for both.

As an owner of a mini, 15, and 40gb model, I have to say that the design of the white ones (3G) is wonderful... I really do like this... it is sorta nicer to hold.
