Hello all,

I just bought a Nikon 2100 digital camera for my parents. When I opened the box all that was there was the battery pack. The camera, software, manuals and cables were missing. Upon further inspection, I found that the shipping box had been cut open on the bottom and re-taped. Apparently someone at the Amazon wharehouse or one of the UPS employees stole the camera. I've contacted UPS and Amazon.

If any of you come across a Nikon 2100 with serial number 3810836 please reply to this post. I wouldn't be surprised to find this camera on eBay soon. If you see an auction for a brand new Nikon 2100 with no box, be cautious!

If any of you have purchased one of these recently, does it normally come shipped wrapped in celophane? This box had no celophane and no sticker over the flap.

Man, that sucks. What have Amazon and UPS said about the incident?

UPS will call me back within 5 business days to let me know what they will do to resolve the problem. Amazon basically said that I will get a replacement camera one way or another (on UPS's tab or theirs).

Hmm, neat. How do they know you are not pulling a fast one?

What a dumb-**** thief, too! Yeah, the camera's gonna do a whole lot of good with no battery.

The camera probably ended up on Ebay. I have seen many an auction for new cameras and Pdas without batteries, cradles etc...
Most of these sort of auctions have descriptions stating the stuff was lost etc... Seems like it would be easy for an insider to steal only the camera and stick the box back on the shelf.
